Just a year and a half ago, Abhay Rangan and his mother were producing plant-based milks in their kitchen, which Rangan would then distribute through Bangladesh on his moped.
Now, after making the first few thousand litres of vegan milk in the kitchen using blenders, pots and pans, Rangan has received $400,000 of seed funding from passionate animal rights activist and investor Stephen Sturdivant from Dallas, Texas.
This investment will take Rangan company, Veganarke, to the next level, funding the purchase of new machinery, developing the company’s brand, and marketing to reach a wider clientele.
Believe it or not, this is not only Rangan’s first company, but his first ever job. Despite this, he comes from an extremely entrepreneurial family, with a father who owns a vegan instrument business and a mother who graduated in engineering. Just a few years ago, Rangan has already demonstrated his initiative and leadership skills when running an animal rights organisation that he started when he was just 16 years old.
Rangan is yet another millennial to add to the list of inspiring individuals that balance a desire to change the world with their sharp business sense and entrepreneurial spirit.
