Dan Lawson, a 44 year old vegan ultra-runner is currently trying to set a new record by running across the island of Great Britain.
His route will take him from the northern tip of Scotland to the western tip of Cornwall, South-West England, covering 874 miles in under nine days!
The current record sits at nine days, two hours and twenty-six minutes, and was set by runner Andrew Rivett in 2002.
Lawson is today running his fifth consecutive day, running around ninety miles every day. Lawson has already achieved many world-class race titles, which include Britain’s Grand Union Canal Race, the 400K Ultra Gobi Race and the UltraBalaton 218K.
If he sets the new record for John O'Groats to Land's End, it will mark another great victory for vegan athletes and for the buzzing vegan runners community. Just last month, a 53-year-old vegan runner named Catra Corbett set the new record for the 310 mile-long Muir Ramble Route in California.
If you want to get involved in running, a great place to start is with the ParkRun community. There are also many local Vegan Runners groups, as well as a national Vegan Runners UK Facebook group.
